Reason for development
This device automatically measures the thickness of the brake shoe and lining with a CCD camera by image processing, while a train is in operation. The data is fed into a deterioration prediction system to accurately indicate when the brake shoe and line must be replaced, for more efficient maintenance.

* It can automatically measure the thickness of the brake shoe and lining while a train is in operation.
* It can send an alarm through monitor display, print and sound if abrasion exceeds the critical limit.
* It can specify the critical abrasion limit and measuring position.
* It can predict time of deterioration from the abrasion data and rail car number, thus facilitating the planned management of expendable parts.
* It can use measured data to develop office automation for inspection.
